Frugal Health – How to Spend Less and Feel Great Doing it
divne asked:
Let’s face it – these days most of us are having trouble making ends meet, and caring for our health is the last thing on our minds, at least until we get sick. With the cost of modern medical care rising to levels that make it nearly out of reach of the average person, getting healthy and staying that way appears to be an unattainable goal. Believe it or not there are ways that you can take care of yourself, stay healthy and not break the bank in the process.
These days it is easy and inexpensive to learn simple ways to improve your overall health and well being. One of the best options I’ve found is The Center for Healing Arts. The films made by this healing arts company offer the opportunity to learn more about a variety of holistic practices directly from renowned experts via full-length DVD sessions that are sent to you every other month for a very reasonable subscription fee. Learning is easy because you can review each DVD session at your own pace in the privacy and comfort of your own home.
Watch What You Eat
We all know that we should watch what we eat, but how many of us actually put that into practice? The truth is that it is much easier to stop by the drive-through window on the way home from a long day at work than to cook a meal and then clean up afterwards.
One relatively painless way of alleviating the desire for the speed of fast food is to set aside two to three hours each week on a day off and prepare several healthy meals in advance. By freezing them in individual portions, preparing a hot and hearty meal after a long day will only take the time required to stick it in the microwave.
When you cook your own meals you’re getting a delicious and wholesome meal that is healthier than factory freezer food.
Move Your Body
Exercise can be another story entirely, especially with today’s hectic schedules. Increasing your exercise can be as simple as taking the stairs at work or as involved as joining your local gym or workout center, it all depends on you. Why not get out in the morning before you take off for work and enjoy a brisk walk for a few minutes in the fresh air? It will help to get your body energized and clear your head, putting you in a great state of mind to start your day.
No need to visit the gym and run on the treadmill for hours or do endless sit-ups- It is more important you find a way to increase your overall activity level that works for you. If you do not like any particular activity you are in all likelihood not going to stick to it. Consistency is the key!
Make Personal Time
Taking time for you is just as important to good health as diet and exercise. Set aside at least thirty minutes every day for personal time. Whether you choose to read a book, work a crossword puzzle, meditate or simply take a nap, the important part is that you are doing something for yourself and you don’t feel obligated to anyone’s needs during that specified time but your own. You know you deserve it and a little time spent away from your hectic schedule can work wonders for your overall well-being.
Learning for Less
You have no doubt heard the buzz in recent years about alternative medicine, the healing arts or holism. There are quite a few choices out there for those who want to learn more.
The best option for me was an inexpensive subscription to the DVDs offered by The Center for Healing Arts. It was the most cost-effective way for me to learn the most by spending the least. Of course I have read what I could find online, and that is excellent for certain types of information but when it comes to healing we need to see and hear the people who are offering it. The Center’s DVDs are taught by people who know what they are talking about because their healing tradition is an integral part of their lives. Learning is important, but making sure you are learning accurate, practical and insightful healing practices is even more important though I still like to get a good deal.

Personal Transformation – Expert Tips
Kerry Finch asked:
What is your goal for 2009? To be healthier, wealthier, happier, thinner? Perhaps you have come to the realization that in order to achieve these goals, some personal transformation is going to be necessary. Readers of Rhonda Byrne’s “The Secret” will know that its not that hard – with the right guidance.
The process is simple. This can be summarized in just three words: Ask, believe and receive.
Ask
Before you can change an aspect of your life, you need to ask for that change to happen. This entails defining clearly what your goal is. To illustrate, if your wish is to have wealth, then that is exactly what you must ask for. The Secret maintains that the universal Law of Attraction works in this way: your thoughts attract like objects.
By thinking “wealth”, wealth will flow to you. Think happiness and the world will cooperate with you by letting you experience happiness in your life. Smile and the world smiles back at you.
Believe
To believe in something means to act, speak and think as though what you are asking for is already present in your life. This should not be confused with delusional thinking – when a person is detached from reality and whose thoughts are not goal-motivated.
Your belief is a means to an end. Stop shopping for loose clothing if your goal is to lose weight. If you wish to be rich, fill your wallet with money always. If you want a stable relationship with your partner, stop looking for signs of infidelity in your partner.
Watch your thoughts always. Affirm your belief in the changes you wish for. Replace all negative thoughts quickly as they arise. Remember that faith is a strong and powerful force. It is what keeps old religions alive throughout centuries.
Receive
To receive means that you experience the feeling that comes with the things you asked for. If you want to be thinner, then you have to start feeling lighter and more confident about yourself. If you wish to be richer, then you must feel financial security everyday.
It is common to hear people wish for happiness in their lives. In order to turn your wishes into reality, you need to work from within, removing negativity from your heart and feed the positive, happy thoughts. Let go of negative thoughts that weigh you down to help you feel richer, healthier or happier.
Visualize your day in advance
Most of us start our days with a list of things to do. Notice how following a to-do list seems to get more things done. This is the effect of visualization.
When you draw a list of things to do for the day, you are actually planning and visualizing how your day will look like. You can do the same about your goals during the day. Treat the start of the work week as Happy Mondays rather than Manic Mondays.
Visualize your health plan at work all throughout the day and watch yourself stick to it. Create a mental picture of your financial endeavors working smoothly and see how the day agrees with you.
No matter what your personal transformation goal is, the key to success is Ask, Believe and Receive.
And if you need to learn visualization and personal development techniques in order to create your own personal transformation – take every opportunity to learn from some experts in the field.
