How much electric does a plug in air freshener use?

frugal
Leanndy asked:

My husband and I recently moved and we are really trying to be frugal with our electric usage. I bought a few of those plug in air fresheners and he seems to think that they use/waste a (more than minimal) amount of electricity. Does anyone know how much electric they consume?
P.S. I agree with Tiger below. It is ridiculous. I just want to prove to him that it’s ridiculous.

I live with a “frugal” roommate who waters her grapefruit tree, and other plants with water used from the.

For sure asked:

….falloff water from the shower, (from buckets) and the hose connected to the washing machine (laundry machine)….I wouldn’t eat anything from these plants, watered with this water, would you? She is manic-depressive too…maybe this is why huh?

What’s the most energy efficient way to heat a pool with gas?

frugal
Just4Nic asked:

We recently bought our home and the pool has a gas heater. Is it more cost effective for us to turn it on high and wait for it to heat when we’re planning to swim, or should we leave it on at low during the cooler seasons? We’re hoping to install solar heating, but it’ll be several more years before we can make that investment, so we’d like to be as responsible and frugal as possible with the gas. Thanks!

Homemakers, how are you being frugal?

frugal
vivib asked:

I was reading a newpaper article the other day. One woman cuts her toothpaste and hand lotion tubes in halft to get every last bit out. I have not gone this far yet. What do you do to pinch the most uses out of something or to save money in little ways?

What’s your best money saving tips?

frugal
Michelle M asked:

As a SAHM and just in general a frugal person, I am always looking for tips to save money. I will share a few of mine too. Here are my favorite money saving tips

Use a crock pot, it takes less money to run than your oves, saves tons of time, food turns out great, and it doesn’t heat the house.

Use a Toaster oven. When I’m not cooking in the crock pot I’m cooking in my toaster oven. I bought one big enough to bake pies, bread, cake in square cake pan, cookies, chicken, steaks, etc….. I bought a regular toaster for making toast. I feel making toast in a large toaster oven is a waste of electricity.

Buy used when possible. I bought my sons loft bed for $150 the same exact bed sales for $1000 at our local kids furniture store. I bought his power wheels 2 seater jeep for $30. and I bought a Quadra Fire gas insert for $250, we were looking at the same one at a local store for $2500. These are just a few bargains I have found.

How can I be more frugal? Help?

frugal
melaniecampbell asked:

My fiance and I need to save some major money in the next little while, problem is- He got a surprise pay cut about a month after I quit my job to be a stay at home mom with our 5 yr old, and I am pregnant with our second baby. Before the pay cut, it would have been fine financially. Now, with me being 31 wks preg, we’re in a tight spot.
I need any and all tips on how we can save some money, not necessarily to bank right now, but to live on.
If you have any ways we can save on everyday items and chores, let me know! I mean stuff like cooking, cleaning, pet care (3 cats, 1 dog), groceries, stuff like that. Since I am a stay at home mom I do have more time to spend “being frugal”. We don’t eat out much at all, live rural so don’t do anything pricey for entertainment ($5 movie 2x a month), I use baking soda to clean, line dry our clothes, and try to use everything in our pantry before buying more… help! Fiance is freaking out about money!

How do you cut your grocery bill significantly?

frugal
Maria Gallercia asked:

I would like to know the “frugal” way to grocery shopping. Which supermarkets in the southeast (preferably Florida) is the most economical? Is purchasing the Sunday edition ($1.00 for the Tampa Tribune, for instance) for the coupons really worth it? Share all your cost effective tips with me, please. I shop at Publix for all my needs, and it can get quite expensive despite I absolutely adore the service I get. Sometimes I buy groceries for people who are economically disadvantaged, and buying these families groceries in addition to mine is getting very expensive. I am not complaining since I want to continue to help them but at the same token I want to know how to save lots of money with groceries and other items of necessity. Thank you in advance as I appreciate all the advice I can get on this matter.
