Do I have the right to choose another doctor if I am on a free insurance plan?

choosing insurance
the_napster21 asked:

I am 5 months pregnant and do not make much thus I get free insurance when it comes towards my medical expense regarding the baby. I do not trust the current doctor that watches over me and he seems incompetent and do not want him operating on me during surgery. Can I request another doctor under my insurance?

If an employer offers insurance benefits to the employee, can they exclude dependents?

choosing insurance
Ryan asked:

Can they choose to only cover the employee? If so are they allowed to pick and choose whose dependents can be covered? Like one employee’s child is covered, but the other employees aren’t allowed to get insurance for their dependents, is that legal?

I got in a wreck and it wasn’t my fault the insurance company won’t send me money until I choose a repair shop

choosing insurance
William W asked:

The insurance co. of the party at fault is telling me that they can’t cut a check until I choose a repair shop. Is this true? Shouldn’t they send me a check for the estimated amount and then I can shop. I have a feeling that they are trying to get away with paying as little as possible and I may not get the repairs I need. What should I tell them to make them send me the check without choosing a body shop?

Do I need to perform the repairs noted on my homeowners insurance claim?

choosing insurance
Mark G asked:

We recently had a major hail storm move through the area and my home was pretty well blasted. I have roof, window and siding damage for which the insurance company estimated repairs at $9,800. The windows and roof without a doubt need to be replaced. The siding on the otherhand could probably wait since it is entirely cosmetic. If I choose not to replace the siding is that acceptable? I am from Arkansas if it varies by state. I would just assume to leave the siding as is and replace it acouple of years down the road all together when it really needs the work done.

choosing insurance
b0914 asked:

The chiropractor I work for is charging patients with no insurance or high deductibles 25 a visit, 100 a month or $250 a month depending on the care level but he is still billing insurance and keeping the payment. He says there plan covers there copays but he is picking and choosing who he wants to apply this to,it just feels fishy!!! Is this legal? were can I find information on these acts?

Are States legally allowed to require car insurance?

choosing insurance
Suecydoll asked:

Can the State legally mandate that citizens buy insurance from consumer agencies that have little to no regulation of price and guaranteed service?
Can we consider this question with these items.
item 1: Premium rates are as high as the industry chooses to set them
item 2: Insurance companies are not required to provide to low income families (as are utilities, and other necessity services)
item 3: Insurance companies only pay a small percentage (20%) of claims, and only 6% without judication.

Should food stamp and welfare recipients be required to purchase healthy and less costly foods?

frugal
David L asked:

If tax payers are footing the bill is it an unreasonable request to ask that those using our dollars be frugal. In the long run, they’d benefit by making healthier choices. It makes common sense to me but suspect many will disagree.
