I have a Dell Inspiron 500 that is 4 years old. I am now starting graduate school and am inclined to get an Apple Macbook – a friend of mine has one and I love the features on it. I have struggled all through undergrad not having Microsoft Word, and now I don’t want to spend the money to put Vista on an old computer. Money is REALLY tight right now, but I am getting federal student loans, plus I have a graduate assistantship that has waived my tuition (yay!). Should I splurge or be frugal and save my money/put it toward credit card debt? BTW, I do have access to computers on campus with internet and Microsoft, but they are not always readily available.
I am so indecisive, help!!
