In Edwards’ health care plan what is the penalty for choosing against taking health insurance?

choosing insurance
Dan asked:

He says it needs to be universal so how will these people be punished for making their own financial decision against his mandatory requirement?

Let’s assume that this person has plenty of money to pay for it, but still says no.

When my mother passed away she did not have much but we had to pay to probate the will and she lived very frugal so she could leave her kids a little something. Which really helped me out.

Why do we penalize people for being frugal, saving and making good choices?

frugal
G.C. asked:

To follow up on the last post about the inequality of the economic stimulus package.

Consider this. A person who lives frugally, saves their money, and retires with assets and money in the bank, may not receive their full social security benefit, because of their assets.

However, someone who spends every penny they have, and retires with nothing, will receive the full benefit.

How is this fair? We reward people for making poor choices. And, penalize those who save and are frugal.

Same with children…the more children one has, and the less they make, the more taxes they receive back. Eventhough, the size of the family was their choice, and they knew their econmic situation.

Again, why is this fair?

Is the UAW a perfect example of liberalism failing in the long run?

frugal
scottdman2003 asked:

After all, they worked to provide exponentially higher wages and benefits than their foreign counterparts. By comparison to other manufacturing jobs, they make way more than anybody else.
They pay full retirements to retired workers, something all of us have to save for and be financially frugal to achieve.
Working in one of the “Big Three” has also basically become a family tradition.
The UAW basically provides a cradle to grave mentality.
A true liberal desire.
